James "Jay" McGuire

James E. "Jay" McGuire, 80, of Chillicothe, died at 9:30pm December 13, 2025, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born June 15, 1945, in Ross County to the late Charles and Myrtle (Cook) McGuire. On July 3, 1976, he married the former Ruth L. Carroll, who survives.

Also surviving are his son James "Jay" McGuire, Jr., of Chillicothe; his granddaughter Irelynn McGuire, of Lancaster; his sister Patty Stone; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings Charles McGuire; Virginia McGuire, Dora Bryans, Rose Bennett, Marie Bennett and Donna McGuire.

Jay retired from Ross Auto Parts on December 18, 2015, following 37 years of service. He loved dirt track racing, especially helping Bub Frazier Racing and Joey Williams Racing along with Joey's Dad, Dave Williams. He also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the lottery. The family would like to give special thanks to NCR Hospice staff for their care and compassion.

At his request, there will be no services. Cremation services are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
