James R. McCoskey, 67, of Chillicothe, passed from this life peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home, 4:45 pm, Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was born February 4, 1944 in Gary, IN to the late Zane P. and Jane Jollief McCoskey. On October 12, 1996 he married Teressa J. Nolan McCoskey, who survives. Also surviving are his children, J. Terry (Lisa) McCoskey, of Fairborn, OH and Tim (Debbie) McCoskey, of Chillicothe; step-children, Jerry (Mary Ann) Phipps, of Douglasville, GA and Terri Phipps, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Caitlin, Lily, Grace, John and Travis; step-grandchildren, Madison, Preston and Jackson; a great-grandchild, McPherson; a brother, Gary (Sue) McCoskey, of Little Elm, TX; and a sister, Cheryl Adams, of Rochester Hills, MI. Mr. McCoskey retired from the Kenworth Truck Company. His community involvement and commitment to service are reflected in his membership/leadership roles with the Logan Elm Lodge F & AM, Kingston; the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; the Aladdin Shriners; the Ross Co. Shrine Club; as past president of the Ross Co. Conservation League; with the Republican Party and the Tea Party; as member of the NRA and as a certified Hunter Safety Instructor. A worker of wood, a teller of tales and a servant of the Lord, he will be missed. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held 7:00 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home, followed by a Christian funeral service, with Pastor Mitch Salyers officiating. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to Adena Health Foundation, Friends of Hospice, 272 Hospital Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601 or the Ross Co. Shrine Club, Shriners Hospitals, PO Box 371, Chillicothe, OH 45601, in his honor.
