James Linton

James W. Linton James W. Linton, 73, of Chillicothe, died 4:30 pm, Monday, January 15, 2007, in his home, following an extended illness. He was born April 23, 1933 in Ross Co. to Russell and Alice Nathle Smith Linton. Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Linton; son, Jim R. (Marla) Linton, of Mathews, NC; daughter, Mona (Howard) Reed, of Circleville; step-sons, Jack (Becky) Hutchinson, of Bexley, OH and Tom (Debbie) Hutchinson, of Circleville; grandchildren, Jonathan and Tara Reed, Alex, Tyler, Tatum, Taylor, and Tray Linton, Airicia Holcomb, Joshua Hutchinson, Kristin and Justin Hutchinson, Laura Hutchinson and Shane Arledge; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; sisters, Margaret Kathren (Forest) Phillips, of Circleville, Wanda (Bob) Myers, Florida and Linda Kay Alexander, of Chillicothe; brother, David (Pam) Linton and nephew Scott Linton, of Chillicothe; brothers-in-law, Nate Barnes, and Cecil Conrad, both of Circleville, Chuck (Sandy) King and James (Ruby) King, of Chillicothe; and special friends, Pete and Cindy Preston, Connie and Richard DeWeese, Roger White, Janet Stauffer, all of his friends at the Chillicothe Telephone Co., Greg Haas, Bob Irwin, Jimmy and Linda Mitchell, and Dave Hammond; his riding buddies, Shriner friends, and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Florbell Detty, Carol Conrad, Betty Barnes, and Ruth Seymour and a step-daughter, Lura (Hutchinson) Flauding. Jim retired after 40 years from the Chillicothe Telephone Co. He attended Open Door Ministries. He was a member of UCT Scioto Co. 33; the Mt. Logan Riding Club; the Logan Elm Lodge 624 of F and AM, Kingston; the Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus; the Aladdin Shriners, of Columbus; the Ross Co. Shrine Club; and the Aladdin Kentucky Colonel Club. Jim loved his faithful companions, his horse skip and dogs, Lucy, Buster, and Duke. He loved Bluegrass and working for the Shriners to raise money for the Shriners Burns Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2007 in the Open Door Ministries Church, Pastor Mark Pfiefer officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday in the Haller Funeral Home, where a Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners' Burns Hospital, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095 or to Open Door Missions, 3130 S. Bridge St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
