James Liggins

James Edward Liggins Sr, 83 of Chillicothe passed away Tuesday night, January 21st, 2025 at the OSU James Cancer Center after an extended illness. James was born December 19th,1941 in Chillicothe Ohio to the late Leroy Liggins and Elizabeth Liggins (Fairrow) of Chillicothe.
James (Jim) is survived by his children, James Liggins Jr., Kathy Maughmer, Veronica (Curtis) Jones, Brigitte Lisath of Columbus Ohio, Thomas Pruitt of Haslet Texas, Melissa Downs of Frankfort Ohio, and Sean Liggins of Chillicothe Ohio, numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Brown, brother, Roger Liggins son, Donald Liggins and grandson Britten Jones.
Jim was known by friends and family to enjoy dressing up and stepping out on the town. He was a well-liked quiet friendly man to those that new him in his community. Jim was an avid sports fan of all kinds. He was very close to his late brother, Roger Liggins. Weekends were often spent together with good natured arguing over football and which team was better, the Cleveland Browns or the Cincinnati Bengals. Of course, he would have you know that Cincinnati is clearly the better team. In later years, he was the stalwart dedicated caretaker to his ailing mother. Elizabeth "Sis" Liggins. He impacted the lives of so many of his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held on at 1:00 pm on Friday January 31st, 2025 at Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with Elder Veronica Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may join for a visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the service at Haller Funeral Home.
