James Lewis

James W. Lewis Sr., 85, of Albany, GA, formerly of Chillicothe, died October 2, 2011, at the Willson Hospice House, Albany, GA. He was born December 26, 1925 in Bourneville to the late Andrew C. and Garnet Bane Lewis. He married the former Irene Peebles, who died in 1992. Survivors include three sons, James W. Lewis, Jr., of London, OH, Terry (Nancy) Lewis, Sales City, GA, and John (Kay) Lewis, Albany, GA; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Florence Lewis. He was a US Army World War II and Korean Conflict Veteran. Mr. Lewis was a former employee of Mound City National Park and Scioto Twp. Greenlawn Cemetery. At his request, military graveside honors, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 1:30 pm Friday in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours will not be observed. However, the family will be at the home place, 2408 US 23 South during this time of bereavement.
