James M. Hovater passed away suddenly in Chillicothe on April 16, 2025. James was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 18, 1958, to James B. and Marcella M (Pierce) Hovater. On February 15, 1996, he married Diana Crickmore.
James is also survived by his children, Matt (Vanessa) Wilcox Sr, James (Anna) Wilcox III, Angela Hovater, and Cheryly Hovater, grandchildren, Matt Jr., Tyler "Taz", Samara, Tiarah, Calvin (Shawna), James IV, Emma, Wyatt, Lilly, Chance, Michai, and Maliyk, and Great-Grandchildren, Zaiden, Deshawn "Trey" III, and Ace. He will be sadly missed by many other family and friends.
After graduating from High School, James joined the Navy where he served 5 years gaining the skill of a Boilerman. He took that skill into his work at Adena.
In keeping with James' wishes cremation has taken place.
