James Ford

December 30, 1941 — October 5, 2008

James O. Ford, 66, of Chillicothe, surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord at 8:10am on Sunday October 5, 2008, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday October 9, in the Crouse Chapel United Methodist Church, 795 Crouse Chapel Rd., with Pastor Doug Cox and Rev. Fred Diehl officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8pm Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home. Jim was born December 30, 1941, in Ross Co. to the late Roy and Olive Newland Ford. On December 26, 1986, he married the former Joyce J. Diehl, who survives. Also surviving are his son Lee Ford, of California; sons and daughters-in-law John (Joan) Amole, of Florida; Jerry (Dannielle) Amole, Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Teri (David) Pack, McDermott, OH; grandchildren: Anya (Josh) Miller, Bourneville; Ryan (April) Notestone, Tarlton; John G. Amole, Idaho; Dylan Amole, Chillicothe; Jed Amole, Florida; Carter Amole, Chillicothe; a great-granddaughter Jazlynn Miller, Bourneville; sisters Peggy Joann Harmount; and Jane (Rolland) Harper, all of Chillicothe; his twin sister Dora (Perry) Shockley, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Ford. Jim served his country in the US Marine Corp from 1960-1964 and later retired from the US Navy 1980. He then worked at the VA Medical Center as an electrical technician before retiring in 2006. He attended the Crouse Chapel UMC and was a member of the American Legion, Post 757. Jim loved gardening, the outdoors and wildlife including bird watching. He especially enjoyed spending time with is grandchildren.
