James A. Ferguson, 43, of Chillicothe, Ohio formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, following an extended illness.
He was born on October 4, 1974, to the late Gail Antoinette Ferguson. James was raised by his beloved grandmother, Josephine Ferguson, who survives.
Also surviving are his two aunts, Serena Logan, and Mary Jo Peele; as well as numerous cousins, relatives, and friends. In addition to his mother, James was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl Ferguson, his grandfather, Robert E. Ferguson, his great-grandmother, Margaret Parker, two great uncles, Orville R. Ferguson, Carl Ferguson and his three great aunts, who were very instrumental in his upbringing, Marion Parker, Opal Bullard, and Imogene Ferguson.
James was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, class of 1993, and went on to attend Shawnee State University. More recently he was a cook at the Tumbleweed Restaurant in Chillicothe, Ohio. In his free time, he loved playing music, singing, and playing guitar. He was also known for singing in the choir at Allen Chapel AME Church in Portsmouth, Ohio.
