James Elliott

October 12, 1936 — March 2, 2007

James J. "Jim" Elliott, 70, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord, on Friday evening, March 2, 2007, with his family by his side in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born October 12, 1936, to the late James and Jessie Elliott. On March 6, 1959, he married the former Judith A. "Judy" Knisley, who survives. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law Charles (Janet) Elliott; Ralph (Janet) Elliott; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Laymon "Tommy" Elliott-Whitt; and Sherry and Mark Rapp; grandchildren: Justin Rapp; Drew Whitt; Angie Moody; Scott and Jeff Delong; Jeremy Elliott; Ashley Pettit; James "Jimmy" and Anne Leach; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest daughter Tammy (Elliott) Smith. Jim worked at Central Center for 41 years as the maintenance man. He never left a job half done and he always made sure he gave 100 percent. He always stopped what he was doing at home if he was needed at Central Center. He was very devoted to his job and making sure the patrons of Central Center were safe. When Brookside Church was just beginning, Jim helped with the construction of the building and the bus ministry. His love was camping and taking broken things and making them like new. He was a hard worker, a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Haller's.
