James R. Compher, 60, of Chillicothe, died at 5:45pm Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Monday, August 20, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Salyers and Pastor Roger Webb officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Honor Guard will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Jim was born August 18, 1946, in Greenfield, OH, to the late Roy L. and Rowena Whitaker Compher. He was a graduate of Paint Valley High School, Class of 1964. He later obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University and was a proud OU Alumnus. Jim is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Martha Elaine (James) Hatfield, of Greenfield; Cynthia Ruth (Richard) Hurtt, Chillicothe; Anne Marie (Douglas) Nelson, Frankfort; brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald Roy (Theresa) Compher, Frankfort; Paul Edward (Nancy) Compher, Maryville, TN; nieces Kathy, Rene, Andrea, Sara, Elizabeth, Stephanie, and Adrianna; nephews Terry, Shawn, Ricky, and Ryan; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew Roy "Jay" Compher. Jim was a Certified Public Accountant, successfully operating his own accounting business for 32 years. He also owned Eagle News for 12 years. He served his country in the US Army serving in Vietnam and served his community on the Design and Review Board, Ross Co. Community Action, Board of MRDD, and worked for the Ross Co. Auditor's office.
