James R. Bridges, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2025 at the Adena Pike Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born on November 26, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Elizabeth (McGinty) Bridges and James G. (Helen) Bridges. On September 22, 1984, he married his beloved wife, Patsy Ann (Keiser) Bridges, who survives.
Also surviving is his step-daughter, Kelly (Asa) Carpenter; grandchildren, Brody Frye, Shelby Frye, and Korben Carpenter; step-grandson, Xander Carpenter; his sister, Mary Ginther; brother-in-law, Terry Keiser; his nephew, Jim Ginther; nieces, Julie (Jeff) Oates, Jeannie (Alan) Curran; Jessi (Fernando Barragan) Ginther, and June (Seth) Roy; great-nieces and great-nephews; Alyssa Brooks, Colton Ginther, Oliver Roy, Daniel Roy, Gabriel Barragan, and Elias Barragan; as well as numerous other family members and friends. In addition to his mother Elizabeth, and father, James, he was preceded in death by his beloved adoptive mother, Helen.
Jim was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1965-1968. He went on to work as an auto mechanic for many years. Upon retirement, he began working for St. Mary's Catholic Church as the custodian. In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors and mowing the lawn.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Haller Funeral Home from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Private burial will be held at a later date.
