James S. Beverly, 37, of Chillicothe, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 2, 2009. He lost his life in a valiant attempt to save his nephews from a house fire. He was born on February 6, 1972, in Ross County to George and Dorothy (Lee) Beverly and is survived by brothers, Jeremy (Angie) Beverly and George Beverly Jr.; sisters Tiffany Beverly, Virginia (Nick) Urita Beverly, Nellie (Tairan) Beverly-Simmons, and Ericka Beverly; nephews, Nicholas Urita, Tairan Simmons Jr., Zachary, Christian and Joshua Beverly. He was predeceased by grandparents Sylvester and Lolita Beverly, and Clarence and Virginia Lee; nephews Caleb Urita, Jeremiah and Austen Beverly. James graduated from both the Chillicothe High School and the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School in 1991. He worked as an electrician and a general contractor. James accepted Jesus Christ at an early age while attending First Baptist Church. He was set free by the power of the Holy Spirit and was an active member of Church of Deliverance for the last seven years. James was truly a hero. He will be greatly missed by all. His Home Going Celebration will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, at First Baptist Church, Pastor Jeremy Beverly officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
