James E. Bethel, 80, of Lebanon, formerly of Chillicothe, died 7:25 pm, Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Otterbein Senior Community, Lebanon. He was born September 24, 1935 in Chillicothe to the late Preston E. and Mary J. Landman Bethel. On October 7, 1956 he married the former Yolanda K. Mason, who survives. Also surviving are his three daughters, Anita (Douglas) Outcelt, of Lebanon, Brenda (Bruce) Fowler, of Irmo, SC and Lisa (Morris) Stacy, of Columbus; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Huster, of Moreno Valley, CA and a brother, Bill Bethel, of Jackson, OH. He was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Bethel; a sister, Mariedith Clark Brofft; and a brother, John Bethel. Mr. Bethel served in the US Air Force Reserves and retired from the Mead Paper Co. after over 35 years of service. He also sold Christmas trees and other produce on Water St. for many years. Most recently he worked as a valet at the Adena Regional Medical Center. He loved to hunt, fish and bowl and was an avid Buckeyes and Reds fan. His memorial service will be held 5:30 pm Wednesday at the Sunrush Church of Christ, with his grandsons, Brian and Daniel Magill, officiating. Friends may call 3:30 – 5:30 pm Wednesday at the church.
