Jacob A. "Nick" Powell, Jr., 71, of Chillicothe, died at 11:14pm November 21, 2016, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born January 4, 1945, in Sioux City, IA, to the late Jacob A., Sr. and Mercy D. (Weatherspoon) Powell. On January 26, 1976, he married the former Sonya L. Hitchens, who survives. Also surviving are his sons: Kendal Kaonohi, of Hawaii, Aaron Powell, Eugene, OR, and Nicholas Powell, of Chillicothe; 15 grandchildren: 5 great-grandchildren; brothers David Powell, of Columbus and David Powell, of Hawaii; sisters Sara (Walter) Gilbert, Columbus and Debra Powell, Chillicothe; and loved by many nieces and nephews, including a special niece Lisa Seward. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Shirley Smith. Mr. Powell had worked at the former Wear-Ever Aluminum factory. He enjoyed fishing and children gravitated to him, which he loved. Funeral services will be held at Noon, Monday, November 28, at the First Baptist Church, 65 W. Fourth St., Chillicothe, with Pastor Eric Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until Noon Monday at the church.
