Irene Bowers

Irene Bowers of Chillicothe passed from this life on January 17th. She was born on January 31, 1942, the daughter of Muhrel and Daisy (Beekman) Bowers in Ross County. She is survived by two brothers, James M. (Phyllis) Bowers, and Robert E. (Joyce Ritchhart) Bowers and one sister, Mary H. Brown, all of Chillicothe. Also surviving are grandchildren, Christina (Edward) Leary Martin, Zachariah (Rachael) Mowbray and Shelby Oliver; great-grandchildren Camryn and Silas Martin, Corvin, Jacob, and Lillith Mowbray; former step-son, Todd E. Arledge, and his children Mandy, Lindsey, and Devon; as well as nieces and nephews, Bobbi Groves, Terri Bowers, Melinda (Randy) Cochran, James Jr (Darla), John (Carolyn), Mike (Jill) Bowers, Laurel (Mike) DeMuth, as well as a special friend, Wade Skeens, of Chillicothe. In addition to her parents and an infant brother, Irene was preceded in death by her former companion of many years, Michael J. Arledge, his daughter Janie Oliver, and a brother-in-law, John Brown of Chillicothe. Special thanks are extended to Christina Martin, the "daughter" whom she raised, special nieces and nephews, Bobbi, Terri, Melinda, Randy, Jim, John, sister-in-law Phyllis, great nephew Jeffrey Bowers and great niece Taysia Yusuf, for maintaining the property during her illness and many other special kindnesses they provided. Irene retired from PPG in 2004. She was an avid golfer and bowler until her illness prevented her from participating. She attended First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at the Haller Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at the Bowers Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to First Wesleyan Church of Chillicothe (89 S Mulberry St, Chillicothe, OH 45601), Ross County Humane Society (2308 Lick Run Road Chillicothe, OH 45601), or Good Samaritan Food Bank (255 N Woodbridge Ave, Chillicothe, OH 45601).
