Ira Ellifritt

Ira Donald Ellifritt, 82, of Chillicothe, died 11:11 am, Monday, December 8, 2008, in his home, following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday, December 12, 2008 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Thursday in the Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:00 pm. Mr. Ellifritt was born June 18, 1926 in Chillicothe to Ira C. and Effie Reed Ellifritt. On April 12, 1953 he married June E. Palmer, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Donald J. (Debbie) Ellifritt and Rebecca E. (Larry) Alflen, all of Chillicothe and Scott E. (Lanie) Ellifritt, of Pascagoula, MS; two grandchildren, Holly M. and Paul J. Ellifritt. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Nolan Ellifritt and a sister, Betty Billmyer. He was a member of St. Mary Church, the National Rifle Association, and the American Legion Post 62. He loved gardening, woodworking, and painting and was an avid hunter. He retired from Mead Paper after 45 years of service. He was absolutely the best husband, dad, and grandfather you could find.
