Howard Thomas

Howard E. Thomas, 67, of Chillicothe, died February 28, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Chillicothe, following an extended illness. He was born September 15, 1942 in Ross Co. to the late Hiram and Eleanor Dixon Thomas. On January 25, 1974 he married Joann "Jody" Beverly, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Roxanne (Rod) Brown, of Columbus, Howard (Mendy) Thomas Jr., and Joshua (Dorothy) Thomas, both of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, Kanin, Karrah, Jalen, and Nevaeh; three sisters, Georgia (Melvin) Jones, Josephine Wingo, and Judy Brown; and a special nephew, Richard Johnson. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Michael, James, Paul, Romance, David and Hiram Thomas Jr.; and two sisters, Charlotte Davis and Doris McCrary. Mr. Thomas retired from the US Marines following 21 years of service. He retired from the City of Chillicothe Water Department following 17 years of service. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the US Marines will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
