Howard L. Spencer, Sr., 79, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully in his home on October 3, 2021. He was born September 19, 1942, in Chillicothe, to the late Henry Bryan and Bessie (Woodruff) Spencer. He is survived by his wife Lillian (Short) Spencer, of Chillicothe; sons Howard, Jr. (Susan) Spencer, of Londonderry, OH, and Clyde (Kristy) Spencer, of Londonderry; daughters Lisa (Brent) Hamilton, of Tarlton, OH, Carol Johnson, of Chillicothe, and Kay Spencer, of Chillicothe; his brothers Robert and Paul Spencer, both of Chillicothe; a special niece Dreama (Mitch) Revoir; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by sisters: Rosemary Bethel, Mary Conaway, Betty Kopp and Emma Seymour; and brothers James Spencer, Joseph Payne, Eugene Spencer, Charles Spencer, Jerry Spencer and Donald Spencer. Howard was a veteran of the US Army and had retired from the CRC as a Corrections Lieutenant. He attended North Moreland Lighthouse Church and was an ordained Minister. The family would like to thank the hospice team at National Church Residence, with a special thanks to Jessica Osborne. His funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with his son Rev. Clyde Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
