Howard Schobeloch
September 2, 1940 — December 6, 2024
Howard Philip Schobeloch, 84, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the StoryPoint in Grove City, following an extended illness.
He was born September 2, 1940, in Chillicothe, son of the late Howard George and Evelyn Mae (Weaver) Schobeloch. He married his beloved wife, Charlotte Marilyn (Davis) Schobeloch, who survives.
Also surviving are their children, Melissa (Glen) Wernersbach, and Craig Alan Schobeloch; grandchildren, Glen Philip (Paloma) Wernersbach, Lydia (Timmy) Hubbard, Justin (Madison) Schobeloch, and Brian Schobeloch; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol A. Wallingford.
After taking over his father's iconic Sumburger Restaurant, he dedicated himself, along with family and many dedicated employees, to upholding its reputation as a welcoming and beloved local establishment. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor, he greeted customers with warmth, often remembering their favorite orders and stories. He took immense pride in serving the community, ensuring Sumburger remained a staple of Chillicothe. Outside of work, he was deeply rooted in his faith. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and enjoyed attending services before his illness prevented. His family and closest friends will forever remember him as a loving and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He devoted his life to his family and community, never meeting a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you and recognize Phil's nurse, Shawnda, for all of her love and compassionate care. A sincere thank you is also extended to the numerous other nurses, hospice staff, and care givers that assisted Phil and his family over the last year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to St. Peter Catholic Church, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am-12:30pm at Haller Funeral Home.
