Howard Koss

Howard L. Koss, 85, of Chillicothe, died 7:42 am, February 18, 2012, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born October 19, 1926 in Holyoke, MA to Maurice and Alta Kanter Koss. On March 15, 1953 he married the former Laura M. Gorsuch, who died June 30, 2011. They shared 58 years of marriage. Survivors include his children, Deborah Koss, Chillicothe, David (Georgie) Koss, Dumfries, VA, and Michael Koss, Columbus; a sister, Shirley Liebensohn, Boynton Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Tini Koss, Wethersfield, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Morton Koss; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Liebensohn. Mr. Koss was a World War II US Army Air Corp. Veteran. He retired from the Adena Health System as head of the hematology department in 1993. He had many hobbies including photography, golf, swimming, travelling, and aviation. He enjoyed photographing family and friends and all facets of aviation. He was a certified swim and scuba instructor. Friends may call 1-3 pm Monday at the Haller Funeral Home.
