Howard Hendershot

Howard G. Hendershot, 76, of Chillicothe, died at 1:00pm Friday May 11, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born February 23, 1931, in Huntington, WV, to the late John G. and Mary G. Zimmerman Hendershot. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home. Military Graveside services conducted by the Ross Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Howard is survived by his special friend and companion of 26 years Bonnie J. Manson; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl C. (Robert) Knox, Portsmouth; sons and daughter-in-law Barry J. Hendershot; Gregory A. (Melody) Hendershot, all of Chillicothe; and Brian E. Hendershot, Dallas, TX; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister Carolyn G. Krick; and brothers Richard D. and Phillip Norman Hendershot. He was predeceased by a brother John C. Hendershot. Howard was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1949. He then served his country in the US Air Force. He retired in 1983 from the Chillicothe Fire Dept. as Assistant Fire Chief. He was an avid radio controlled airplane enthusiast and belonged to R.O.R.K.S. model airplane club.
