Hobart Dewell "Hobe" Holbrook, 76, of Chillicothe, formerly of Circleville, OH, received his call from the Lord to be with his wife, Gayle Marlene Holbrook, at 10:20pm on February 25, 2011. His loving and devoted daughter, Theresa Jo Holbrook, was by his side. He was born on December 15, 1934, in Hillsboro, OH to James and Vessie Weaver Holbrook. Hobe graduated in 1953 from Jackson Township High School, in Fox, OH. On April 3, 1956, he married his soul mate and beloved wife, Gayle Roshon, who preceded him in death on February 17, 2010. In 1958, he became a member of the DuPont family. He painted his way with many goals of achievement. As supervisor in casting, his 35 year career ended in April of 1993, but his co-workers and colleagues continued to be very close to his heart. His journey continued with small business endeavors which allowed his compassion and love to surround all those who came in contact with him. His love for God gave his beautiful heart an unconditional love for family, friends and all mankind. He is survived by his only child, Theresa, who resides in Waverly, OH. Also in Waverly is her fiancée Randall Roe and his daughter Tara Roe; Randall's son, Trevor Roe lives in Los Angeles, CA. They were the apple in Hobe's eyes. Tara and Trevor thought of him as their grandfather. Hobe was blessed with a close and loving family. He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Phil) Contner, of Bellefontaine, OH; Freda (Carl) Lindsey, Grove City, OH; brothers Virgil Holbrook and Delbert (Ellen) Holbrook, all of Circleville, OH; nieces and nephews include Olive (Harvey) Houghland, whom were also special friends; Bobbie Jean (Kenneth) Thompson; Connie (Larry) Whaley; Nancy (Dale) Dixon; Jodi (Don) Combs; Glenna Jean (Denny) Schlichter; Kim (Kevin) Ball; Paul (Judy) Holbrook; Charles (Vicki) Wallingford; Don (Linda) Wallingford; Don Holbrook; Mike (Charla) Holbrook; Gary (Karen) Contner; Steve (Bertha) Holbrook; and Scott (Bobbi) Holbrook; special friends are "daughter number two" Patti Hines; Jack Bradley, Amanda, OH; Paula Powers, Lancaster, OH; and Margaret Goodwin, Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Monica Holbrook and Juanita Wallingford; brothers Buford Holbrook, Glen Holbrook and James Holbrook; a nephew Kevin Lindsey; and special friend Roger Powers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, March 3, in the Haller Funeral Home with his nephew Rev. Mike Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Thank you for all the prayers and love to Hobe and his family and special acknowledgement to Lance Harrod, who is not only a wonderful neighbor but a very supportive friend.
