Hobart Austin

Hobart Patterson Austin, Jr., 69, of Chillicothe, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 6:40am, Sunday June 28, 2009, in Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born September 11, 1939, in Chillicothe to the late Hobart P., Sr. and Grace E. Keel Austin. On February 22, 1964, he married the former Sheila E. Mitchell, who survives. Also surviving are his son Dominic "Pat" Austin, of Atlanta, GA; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth Jane "E.J." (Kevin) Scott, Chillicothe; 5 grandchildren that he cherished and loved dearly: India, Dominicka and Donisha Austin; and Keipher and Kevin Scott; six loving sisters and brothers-in-law Norma (Lewis) Smith; Lovada (Ronald) Cousins; Mary Howard; Christina (Garrett) Duncan; Lucille (Bill) Lee; Nedra (Dana) Valentine; 2 loving brothers and sisters-in-law Chester (Donna) Austin; and William (Katherine) Hill; many nieces and nephews; a close and dear sister-in-law Bonnie Robinson; a brother-in-law William Mitchell; a special nephew William "Bill" Thomas; and his "Ameristop Family" on Western Avenue. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold Patterson Austin and Russell Sherman Austin. Hobart was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a retired manager of the Meat Department at the former Big Bear Grocery Store following 32 years of service. His family was his life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, July 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8pm.
