Herman Scaggs

Jesus, the World's greatest carpenter, called the next greatest carpenter home on September 6, 2021.  Herman Scaggs passed from this earth to his new Heavenly adventure.   Born in Genoa (Wayne Co.), WV, on June 18, 1936, to the late John and Ethel (Clark) Scaggs.  He was also predeceased by his brother Amos Scaggs.    Herman is survived by his children: Michael B. Scaggs (Becky Sparks), and Krista C. Scaggs; granddaughter Misty N. Scaggs; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Grace Scaggs; his wonderful and loving companion/caregiver Carolyn Jones (he was loved), all of Chillicothe; and his sister Romaine (Mathews) Thornsberry, of Beaver, OH.    He got up every day with a plan of action.  Something to do, someplace to go, someone to see.  He was always lending a hand if needed.  Herman was self-taught in everything: carpentry to mechanics.  He could build anything and fix everything, even though there may have been some left-over parts.  He never knew the words "can't or tired."  He loved his garden, motorcycles, boats, camping, kayaking, bonfires, and hot dogs.  He never sat idle in life.  Herman always had a sense of humor, loved to play jokes, and he loved to donut shop for the gossip, donuts and coffee.  He enjoyed his holiday decorations, butterflies, and building bird and butterfly houses.  His yard looked like the local Audubon Society.  He lived every day to the fullest with a new adventure every day.  We believe he had 9 lives.  So very blessed, we were, to have had him in our lives and be our mentor.  He will be greatly missed.  He is on his greatest adventure.   Graveside service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please do an act of kindness for someone in his honor.  Or, donate to the Adena Health Foundation-Hospice Program, 9 S.
