Herman Luther McCoy

Herman "Luke" Luther McCoy, a cherished resident of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on a winter’s day, January 7th, 1933, in his beloved hometown of Chillicothe, Ohio, Luke lived a full and remarkable life, grounded in faith, family, and service to others.

Luke was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. On March 1, 1980, he married the love of his life, Jeanette Louise McCoy, in Arlington, Virginia. Their enduring partnership was a testament to years of love and companionship. Luke was a proud father to his son, Jared McCoy, who resides in Chillicothe, Ohio, step-father to Scott Zikafoos of Japan and found immense joy in being a grandfather to Jeremiah Zickafoos of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Victoria Heldenbrand of Texas.

He served his country in the United States Army with honor and pride. Following his military service, Luke found his calling as an Officer in the Finance Industry, inspiring trust and respect from colleagues and clients alike. His integrity and steadfast dedication to his work earned him a well-regarded reputation in the community.

Luke was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Greenville and Eva (Fraley) McCoy, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity that defined his character, his step-children, Shaun Zickafoos and Heather Daniels.

To honor Luke’s life and legacy, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Twin Township Cemetery.
