Helen Summers

October 18, 1922 — September 19, 2005

Helen Margie Neff Summers passed from this life to her heavenly reward at 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2005, surrounded by her family. "Hat" was loving, kind and gentle. She made better everything and everyone she touched. Helen was born October 18, 1922 to Minor Leroy and Bessie Justice Neff. She was a devoted wife for over 61 years to Lora Dow Summers, whom she married July 14, 1942. Dow preceded her to heaven on November 3, 2003. Helen was a wonderful mother to her two daughters Janet (Charles) Elliott and Joy (David) Seymour, all of Chillicothe. And was the "Greatest Grandma" to her five grandchildren: Tracy Diehl, who made her home with Granny after the death of Grandpa; Lisa (Bob) Whitten of Chillicothe; Jason (Tricia) Larkmour of Grove City; Lori (Conrad II) Dana of Chillicothe; and Ryan Harris of Columbus. She was the proud great grandmother of Kyle Dalrymple; Nicholas Diehl; Logan and Landon Whitten; Conrad III, Spencer and Phoebe Dana. Also surviving is a loving sister Dena Hill of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law Mildred Neff and Jessie Neff, Chillicothe, brother-in-law Perry Thacker, Phoenix, Az. also many nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Cecil, Eugene, Paul, Edsel and Clifford Neff; sisters Gladys Detillion, Beatrice and Dorothy Neff. Hat happily volunteered to be the Daycare Center for her grandchildren as long as her health permitted. She taught them great life values—teaching them with love what's important in life and living. Helen loved family get-togethers . The more at her table the better. And was well known for her egg noodles and pies. Until the loss of her husband, she loved to socialize with family and friends; and also take trips with her church family. She especially enjoyed their after-church Uno and Hand and Foot games. She was a charter member of Brookside Church, Egypt Pike, Chillicothe. Helen fought heart disease for many years and succumbed to kidney failure: Disease thinks its won. It doesn't know my life has just begun. I may not live in this world anymore; I've found my way straight to heaven's door So friends and family don't mourn for me. I'm now in heaven for eternity. Helen's family was not her life's work, but her life's enjoyment. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Haller's with Pastor Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 182039 Dept. 013, Columbus, OH 43218-2039, or American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.
