Helen Malone

Helen G. Malone, 84, of Chillicothe, died at 12:30am January 4, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.   She was born June 29, 1938, in Pike County, OH to the late Rev. Ben M. and Emma P. (DeNight) Ward.  Helen was the widow of Roy "Sonny" Malone, Sr.   Helen is survived by her children: Robert L. (Anna) Pulver; daughter Johnetta Pulver, both of Chillicothe; daughter Joetta Gonzales, of Needles, CA; step-daughter Kathi (Shawn) Newberg, of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her companion of over 40 years, Doug Hill; step-children Neil (Shelli) Hill, Chillicothe, and Cathy (Mike) DeAbreau, of Florida; sisters-in-law Glenna Ward, Sharon Ward, and Marcella Ward; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Brian Ward; and her best friends Dan and Sandy Betkey.  She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Jennifer Wells; brothers: Gene, Bill, John and Gary Ward; her sister and brother-in-law  Sally (Bob) Dray; and a sister-in-law Patty Ward.   Helen was a member of Hilltop Mission Church.  Her fellow members of the church, those friendships and activities meant the world to her.  The family would like to give special thanks to her nurses from Adena Hospice, Autumn and Yvonne, for their care and compassion, and Pastor and Mrs. Jared McKinney and the church members for their love and support.   A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm Saturday, January 14, at Hilltop Mission Church, 398 Lunbeck Rd., Chillicothe.
