Helen Dennewitz Donahue, who would have been 100 on her next birthday, was escorted to Heaven by a host of angels, surrounded by her beloved family, who loved and cherished her. She was born March 16, 1918 in Ross Co. to the late Joseph M. and Lillian Mae Sheets Dennewitz. On November 12, 1938 she married Coleman A. Donahue. Survivors include her children, Ronald (Janet) Donahue, Chillicothe, Karen (Jack) Edler, Kingston, and Marla (Hart) Wallingford, Peebles; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Donahue; grandchildren, Rhonda (Ron) Cook, Ronald "RJ" (Melissa) Donahue, Rodney (Bridget) Donahue, Krista (Chris) Compher, Jaclyn (Joey) Alexander, Julie Wallingford, Jeremy (Beth) Wallingford, Michelle Anderson, Stephanie McGregor; a special honorary grandson, John Clary and family; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Clarence (Delores) and Gerald Dennewitz, Chillicothe, Donald (Norma) Dennewitz, Paulding; sisters-in-law, Norma (Harold) Bennett, Frankfort, and Betty Dennewitz, Chillicothe; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Roger Donahue; sister and brothers, Josephine Dennewitz, Betty Greathouse, Mary Speakman, the three World War II Dennewitz brothers, Harold, John and William, and Pearl and Raymond Dennewitz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Genevive and Harold Wolf, Betty Whalen, Clarabelle, Vonnie, Sally and LaVon Dennewitz, Curtis Donahue, Paul Greathouse and James Speakman. Helen was a courageous lady who earned her driver's license at the age of 55. She enjoyed making quilts, growing flowers, baking and loved Great Hymns of the Church, and gospel music. Helen took great pride as a homemaker. She was the last remaining charter member of the Happy Valley Chapel, where she served as youth leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to our special angels from Adena Hospice, special care givers, Betty Dennewitz, Sarah Damron, and Beth Mankin, and the many friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Pastor Ronald Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden.
