Heber Cosby

Heber J. Cosby, 72, of Chillicothe, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born September 12, 1938 in Jackson Co. to the late William "Bill" and Nanny Jones Cosby. He attended Jackson County Schools and served 3 years in the US Army. He retired from the VA Medical Center as a nursing assistant and had worked for Herlihy Moving and Storage, Haller Ambulance Service and Haller Funeral Home. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 40 years, the former Daisy M. Ragland; 2 stepsons, Neil Jones, of Frankfort and Kevin Ragland, of Circleville; a step-grandson, Devon Valentine; a very special niece, Nancy Davis, of Chillicothe; three brothers, Douglas (Hester) and William "Billy" Cosby, both of Jackson and Darryl Cosby, of Columbus; a sister, Sarah Powell, of Jackson; brothers-in-law, Frank (Pat) and Wardie Ragland; sisters-in-law, Glady's Logan, Charlotte (Mil) Wilson, Hilda Jackson and Arlene Garnes. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Sam Jones; four brothers, Coston, Darwin, Stanley and John Cosby; four sisters, Wilma Brown, Mary Valentine, Wylodine Powell and Flossie Valentine. Heber loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a an avid Standardbred Horse Racing Fan and card player. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
