Hazel M. Brandon, 86, entered heaven's gates Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born October 31, 1932 in Slate Mills (Ross County), OH to the late Albert and Dorothy Banks Harris, the second youngest of six children. She later moved to Chillicothe in 1950 and met the love of her life, Bill Brandon. Within this marriage of 66 years, they became parents to Vickie Collins, Keith Brandon, Tony (Pam) Brandon, and Sue (Daniel) McKenzie; the grandparents of five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Dorothy Worthy, Eleanor Harris, Earl Harris, Archie Harris, and Elder Richard Harris.
Hazel retired from the Chillicothe City Schools in 1999 as an educational aide. She was a 1950 graduate of Unioto High School, where she excelled in music with honors, and was the church musician for several years at First Baptist Church. She was a good natured person and will be greatly missed. She gained friendship through her skills in the kitchen. Many will miss the homemade cookies, candy, strawberry jam, etc. that she loved to share.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Eric Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, or one hour prior to the funeral, at the church, on Saturday.
