Harry Edward Smith, 69, of Chillicothe, went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 10:45 am, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Signature Health Care-Chillicothe, following an extended illness. He was born August 7, 1945 in Chillicothe to the late Charles E. and Louise Smith. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1964. On December 20, 1980 he married the love of his life, Sharon J. Lanier Smith, who survives. They have a son, Jeffrey E. (Amy Turek) Smith; a new granddaughter, Layla Belle Smith, of Medina, OH who meant more to him than life itself; a sister Loree Ann (Gary) Kellough, Chillicothe; brothers-in-law, Richard (Peggy) Lanier, Jackson, OH, and Garland (Susie) Lanier, Gallipolis, OH; aunts and uncles, Lucille and Edward Adkins, Circleville, OH and Verna and Robert Groves, Chillicothe; several cousins, nieces and nephews, including special great-nieces, Toni Kellough and Amy (Jay) Cockrell and special great-nephew, Rod (Kelly) Kellough; special friends at his church including Don and Marlene Schmitt, Logan, OH. He was preceded in death by a special great-nephew, Brian Alexander. Harry retired in April of 2000 as a Narcotic Control Technician in the VA Medical Center, pharmacy. He was a member of the First Church of God, where he enjoyed serving the Lord with family and friends. He was an avid bowler and Chillicothe Paints fan. Harry was a great cook and loved to make meals for those in need. He had a great sense of humor and everyone loved him dearly. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, Pastors Matt Roe and Terry Aldenderfer. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.
