Harold Stone

Harold R. Stone, Sr., 90, of Chillicothe, died at 11:31am Tuesday February 13, 2007, in Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born in Monroe Co., GA, to the late William E., Sr. and Callie Steed Stone. On February 5, 1938, he married the former Alice Winfield, who preceded him in death in 1983. He later married the former Esther (Harris) Gatliff on January 20, 1986, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Blanche M. Yates, of Chillicothe; sons and daughters-in-law David (Jeananne) Stone, Plattsburgh, NY; John (Joan) Stone, Pickerington, OH; son Kevin Stone, Chillicothe; step-daughters Debbie and Dianne Gatliff, both of Chillicothe; step-son Robert Gatliff, Dayton; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons Harold Stone, Jr. and Ralph Stone; step-son Teddy Gatliff; 1 brother and 3 sisters. Mr. Stone retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following 34 years of service. He also retired from the State of Ohio and Citizens National Bank. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was in the Senior Choir, and a supporter of Sunday School. He was a member of the Ionic Lodge #6, F & AM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home, where a Masonic Funeral will be held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 71 W. Fourth St., Chillicothe.
