Harold Isaac Kinney, Jr., 79, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born on December 18, 1946, in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Harold Issac Kinney and Mable (Cousins) Kinney.

Harold, affectionately known as “Pete”, was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, where he excelled in basketball. He earned the nickname “Mr. Do It All” through articles published in the Chillicothe Gazette, a testament to his remarkable athleticism and ability to succeed at anything he set his mind to.

Following graduation, Pete was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged. He was a devoted member of the American Legion and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe.

Above all else, Pete will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. His unconditional love for his family, generous spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a lifelong love for sports and could always be found cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and his favorite player, LeBron James. Whether watching a game with family or talking sports with friends, his passion and excitement were contagious.

Pete also had a special place in his heart for his fur babies – His dog Mia Mya and his cat Kitty Kat. He loved them dearly and they brought him so much joy and companionship.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Samantha Bryant of Tennessee, and his son, Pete Kinney, of Chillicothe; his granddaughters, Natalya Bryant and Ashanti Bryant; his siblings, Carol Kinney and Mike Kinney; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Janice, Talissa, Melba, Cynthia, Craig, Darvis, Kim, Robbie, and Jamie.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Haller Funeral Home, with Bishop Obadiah Harris officiating. Military graveside honors conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service.
