Harold Wayne Gray, 80, of Chillicothe, departed this world to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born on Saturday, July 3, 1943, in Chillicothe, the son of the late Harold E. and Elsie M. (Arledge) Gray. He is preceded in death by his wife Nila, daughter Susan Davis, granddaughter Kera, along with his siblings Bill and Patricia.
Harold is survived by his sons, Harold Wayne (Lisa) Gray Jr., of Circleville, James (Carrie) Gray, of Chillicothe, Guy (Jeanne) Gray, of Chillicothe; daughters, Sheila (Danny) Downs, of Chillicothe, Patricia Poling, of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Danny (Kelcee) Downs, Amanda Poling, Matthew (Renee) Gray, Jessica (Marcus) Benson, Joshua Gray, Sonny (Brittney) Gray, Dalton (Marissa) Gray, Amber Gray, Joshua Poling, Brandi (Ian) Weatherhead Katelyn Gray, Dakotah (Tyler) Welch, Kyla (Ethan) Ida, Sydney Gray, Gracieanne Gray, and Karlie Gray; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, and dear friend, Susan Althouse.
Harold proudly served in the US Army stationed in Germany specializing in Artillery prior to the US joining the Vietnam War. His experience in the Army played a very important role in his life and went on after his service providing years of volunteer work at the Chillicothe VAMC and inspiring future generations to serve. Harold loved to golf and after retirement could usually be found around the golf course at the Chillicothe VA or in the clubhouse conversating with fellow Veterans. Harold owned and operated Gray's Family Hair Care in Chillicothe, Ohio from 1983-2013. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose, where over the years he held multiple roles on the Board of Directors. He attended church services at Rosemount CCCU for the past 2 years.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in the Crossroads Church, 5679 Tarlton Rd., Circleville, Ohio, with Pastor Jim Pollard officiating and special words from Pastor Brent Barrett and Minister Doug Campbell.
