Harold Joseph Beverly, 91, of Chillicothe, died at 5:09am October 23, 2023, at his residence. He was born December 27, 1931, to Marie Gertrude and Essie Shelton Beverly. He was married to the late Carol A. Beverly, who preceded him in death in 1989.
He is survived by his children: Joseph L. (Carla) Beverly, Christopher (Carleena) Beverly, Bradford (Ruth) Beverly, Karen (Obadiah) Harris, Brian Beverly, Stuarte (Yvonne) Beverly, Vincent (Manerva) Beverly, Harold "Tony" Beverly, Cheryl Beverly, all of Chillicothe, Kim McDonald, of Columbus; two bonus children David Maughmer, Chillicothe, and Andrew Maughmer Columbus; 34 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother Charles Beverly, Canton, OH; 2 sisters Ilene Belton, Columbus, and Sharon Woodfork, New Jersey; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 8 brothers, 4 sisters; and his eldest son Greg.
Mr. Beverly was a master at his craft that he so studiously and skillfully learned from his father and proudly passed on to his eight sons and his grandsons. Mr. Beverly was in the Union for over 60 years. He often spoke of his travels across the United States and Mexico, leaving a legacy of expert apprenticeship to be marveled at by those who respected and admired his abilities as an expert concrete finisher. Mr. Beverly loved to tell stories of his life experiences and the teachings from his mother and father, whom he adored.
After he retired, he loved to fish and hang out with is many animals. He was a true nature man and will be missed by us all. Harold was baptized in Paint Creek and often attended the Lifting Up Jesus Church.
His funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, October 29, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Obadiah Harris officiating, co-officiants Pastors Obadiah "Drake" Harris and Marshall N. Upshaw. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be observed from Noon until 2pm Sunday at the funeral home.
