Gloria Ann Leonard (born Sudek, formerly Fox and Southers) peacefully laid down the burdens of life on Sunday, May 30th 2021 at the age of 76. Born on August 4th 1944, to Chester and Estelle Sudek, in Dearborn, MI. Gloria was a proud graduate of Fordson High School and Eastern Michigan University. It was during her studies at University of Michigan in Dearborn and Ann Arbor that Gloria began her life-long love affair with U-M Wolverines, especially their football program. After graduating, Gloria went on to enjoy a successful and impactful career teaching English and Theater, first in Riverview and Detroit, MI, and then in Chillicothe, OH. Gloria adored her students at Chillicothe High School, where she taught English, Drama, and Speech classes in addition to coaching the Forensics team and directing many student plays and musicals. During her tenure at CHS, Gloria completed her Master of Education at the University of Rio Grande, exemplifying her belief in life-long learning. After retirement, Gloria continued to pursue her passions and share her talents by spending her time as a substitute teacher for Olentangy Schools and by participating in the Pickerington Community Theatre. She enjoyed a rich social life, with many dear friends and neighbors in Delaware and finally Reynoldsburg, OH. Gloria also contributed to her community as a beloved volunteer at Mount Carmel East hospital. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Estelle Sudek. She is survived by her husband Joseph Leonard of Reynoldsburg, OH, her children Alison Clare (Wayne Maki) Fox of Detroit, MI, and Christopher (Emily) Fox; her grandchildren Connor, Maddox, Nolan, and Tye Fox, all of Chillicothe, OH, and her beloved Dachshund, Charlie Brown. Gloria's life cast such a wide net and positively affected so many people. If you knew her, you loved her! The family would like to extend an invitation to participate in a Celebration of Gloria's Life at Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe, OH, on Saturday June 26th at 10am. Inurnment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
