Glenna Dyer

Glenna Marlowe Dyer, 84, of Chillicothe, was called home Wednesday, February 22, 2024, at 1:20 a.m. at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH after an extended illness.
She was born on October 8, 1939, in Chillicothe, to the late Reverend Wayne McKinley and Vivian Iona (Peale) Bunch Sr. On November 5, 1955, she married James H. Dyer, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 22, 2021.
Glenna's mother died when Glenna was five months old. A loving and selfless paternal aunt, Margaret Simmons ("Aunt Maggie") raised Glenna and her siblings. God is good.
She is survived by daughter Patsy Dyer; son James Dyer, Jr.; grandchildren Jason Dyer and Christa (Julian) Thompson; great-grandchildren Cherub, Urban, and Trinity Dyer; and Zoe and Jamison Thompson; sister-in-law Roselle Dyer, and brother-in-law David "Joe" Dyer, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph, Wayne, Jr.; Edward; and Harvey Bunch; and sisters Louise Booker, Jeannine Hansberry, Esther Netter, and Theresa Zimmerman.
She was lifelong friends of Norma Jean Beverly, Julia Brown, Sally Hitchens, Sonya Powell, Elizabeth Ann Scott, and Blanche Yates. Her church family, Vicki Snow and Luann Ford.
Glenna was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She retired after 38 years from Veteran Affairs Medical Center - Chillicothe. She was considered by many to be a "Beacon of Light".
The family wishes to thank Sonya Powell for her love, caring, assistance, and support of Glenna and her family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church, 65 W 4 th St., Chillicothe followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm at First Baptist.
