Glenn Crites, 100, of Lancaster, formerly of Chillicothe, died 11:45 pm, Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Fairfield Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born July 24, 1915 near Bainbridge, OH to the late John and Clara (Alexander) Crites. On October 9, 1935 he married Ruth Shoemaker, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage, until her death in 1997. Together they raised three children, Dr. John G. Crites, of Lancaster, Caryl (John) Lloyd, of Lancaster, and Cheryl (Charles) Eyer, of Pickerington. Both he and Ruth took great pride in all three children graduating college. Glenn lost both arms in an industrial accident at Mead Paper Company in 1967. With great courage coupled with the love and encouragement of his family and many friends, he continued to work on his farm and manage his properties. He enjoyed hunting trips to Colorado and Montana with his son John, trips to Amish Country, gardening, watching sports, and attending church. Survivors include his two daughters; three grandchildren, Gretchen (Randy Shepard) Crites, Colorado Springs, CO, Tondalaya (James Bahlada) Crites, Baltimore, MD, and Alexandria (Andrew) Lloyd Exline, Houston, TX; a great grandson, Sterling Crites, Colorado Springs, CO. In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by his son John; four sisters, Ruth Walls, Dora Trainer, Alberta Crites and Jean Dotson. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Bickford of Lancaster and Fairfield Medical Center for the excellent care they provided Glenn. They would like to give a special thanks to Marilyn Uhrig and Roger Trainer for their many visits these past years. They also wish to thank Lloyd Sheets and Farrell Johnson for their many acts of kindness and many years of friendship. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at Haller's on Saturday.
