Glen Marc Ater, 75, of Chillicothe, died October 18, 2021, at his home unexpectedly of natural causes.
He was born April 28, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Glenn Ater Jr. and June C. Slack Ater. He was preceded in death by his loving companion, Brenda Lee Bethel who died August 19, 2011.
Surviving is his daughter Angela K. (Jeff) Ulrich, of Chillicothe; sister Lynne C. Swinehart, of Akron; nephew Marc E. (Laura) Bedillion, of Cuyahoga Falls; great-nieces Grier and Reese Bedillion, of Cuyahoga Falls; Brenda's father Barnard W. Bethel; Brenda's son-in-law Rod Shaw; Rod's son Heath A. Shaw; and James H. Shaw, who Marc helped raise as his own beloved grandson, all of Chillicothe.
Marc graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1965. After serving his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, Marc worked over 30 years at the US Postal Service.
Marc was a charter and life member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club Chapter M of Chillicothe, serving terms as president, sergeant at arms, and most recently chaplain. He was also a member of Scioto Lodge #6 F&AM, the Aladdin Temple Shrine, the Ross County Shrine Club, and the BPO Elks No. 52.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday at Haller's. Inurnment and military graveside honors will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemtery, Soldier's Square.
