Gilbert Starling

Gilbert Wesley Starling, 78, of Chillicothe, died 3:30 am, Thursday, November 13, 2008, in his home, following an extended illness. Private graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call 5-7 pm, Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home. He was born March 2, 1930 in Chillicothe, to Clarence Wesley and Madge Carroll Starling. On March 1, 1956 he married Naomi L. Detty, who died December 2, 1998. Survivors include his children, John (Jenifer) Starling, Betty Grubb, Barbara (Donnie) Dewitt and Larry (Rosie) Olaker; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Barbara Johnson, Lorraine O'Leary, Doris Bray, Deloris Miller, and Clarence Starling; and special cousins, Donald Carroll, Lyle Carroll and Loretta Detty. He was preceded in death by his wife; a step-son, David Olaker, a son-in-law, Sam Grubb; and a sister, Madeline Rice. Mr. Starling was a farmer and worked in retail sales and delivery for Snap-On-Tools and Manker's Wholesale. He enjoyed bluegrass music, old tractors and gardening.
