Geraldine Jones

Geraldine P. Jones, 98, of Chillicothe, fondly known as "Aunt Gerri," went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2009, at Valley View Alzheimer's Care Center. She was born April 1, 1911, in Ross Co. to the late Elmer and Stella Payne. She was predeceased by her stillborn son, George Stevie Jones, 11 siblings, and a close cousin and friend Norma Jean Lewis. She is survived by nieces, nephews and several cousins but especially by her cousins Chitia Lewis, Joey Beverly, Toni Harris and Shelley Smith, who will miss the many shopping trips, dinners, funny stories and most of all her love. Geraldine completed her GED at the age of 78, took auto mechanic and computer classes to show, "It's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks." Gerri was fond of reading and felt education and learning was an important part of life. She was employed as a housekeeper and cook for various priests at St. Peter Church where she was also a member. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
