Gerald "Bo" Lee Tolbert, 70, of Sciotoville and Kingston, Ohio, was called home to our Father in Heaven on the morning of July 03, 2026. He passed peacefully at home, following a prolonged illness, and under hospice care of the National Church Residences. He spent his last days walking in love and surrounded by family, loved ones, and close friends, enjoying some of his favorite endeavors.
Born October 25, 1955, to Charles and Alberta (Ruth) Tolbert in Portsmouth, Ohio, Bo lived his life in the joyful service of others. A man of deep and steadfast faith, he loved this nation and was eagerly looking forward to celebrating America's 250th. Bo was known by all as the teller of wild stories, often with a mischievous glint in his eye, and the ultimate fixer of broken things. He found great peace in nature, whether tending to his garden, mowing the lawn, picking wild berries, or looking forward to one last fishing trip before summer’s end.
Bo’s heart for service was best seen through his devotion to his church family at Circle of Faith Ministries. It was there that he, alongside his wife and their devoted helping hands, spent nearly a decade preparing meals served with God’s love to the community. On June 08, 1974, he married the love of his life, Teresa (Salyers) Tolbert, with whom he built a beautiful life centered on faith and family. He spent his earlier years in the carpenters union helping build many of the buildings you see in Columbus’ skyline. In retirement, he was a proud employee of Kohl's, and enjoyed the friendships he made there.
He is survived by the love of his life and cherished wife of 52 years, Teresa; his only child, a daughter, Clara Williams of Chillicothe, Ohio; and his beloved grandchildren, granddaughter Jasmine Williams (the “Ruby” of his eye), and grandson Jonathan Williams (Little Willie). He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Clara (Paul) Pelfrey of Wheelersburg, Ohio; his brother, Carl “Dave” (Nita) Tolbert, also of Wheelersburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, countless friends, and his beloved Circle of Faith Ministries church family.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Tolbert; his sisters, Cecilia Turner and Rosalie Bradley; his brothers, Joseph Tolbert, Charles Tolbert, and Paul Tolbert; and just last month, by his "partner in crime," his faithful Yorkie, Lucky. The pair could always be found together, and it was always an adventure.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, 12:00 noon, at Circle of Faith Ministries,13 Warren Drive, Kingston OH, with Pastor Eric Umsted officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment will begin at 3:00 pm at Clapboard Cemetery, also known as the Pine Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 4678 SR-522, Franklin Furnace OH 45629 (at the intersection of State Route 522 and Big Pete Road, Green Township, Scioto County, Ohio). The cemetery is behind the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Circle of Faith Ministries in Bo’'s honor.
Arrangements entrusted to the Haller Funeral Home.
