Gerald Poindexter

Gerald L. Poindexter Jr. Gerald "Jerry" L. Poindexter, Jr., 59, of Chillicothe, died 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rev. Lawrence Hummer officiating. The Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Friends may call 5-8 pm Thursday in the Haller Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 8pm. He was born October 1, 1947 in Chillicothe to Gerald L. and Pearl Beard Poindexter. He married Anita Peck, who preceded him in death on September 3, 2001. Survivors include his mother; a daughter, Christa Thomas, of Chillicothe; two sons, David Poindexter, of Chillicothe and Gerald Poindexter III, of McArthur; three grandchildren, Patrick and Leanna Thomas and Christopher Jones; and a brother, Dr. David (Janet) Poindexter, of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife. Mr. Poindexter retried as an RN with the VA Medical Center, following over twenty years of service. He was a Viet Nam War Marine veteran.
