George Stephen Woods, 77, of Circleville, formerly of Kingston, passed away on Saturday night, January 6, 2024 at The Wyngate of Circleville, following an extended illness.
He was born on January 11, 1946 in Chillicothe, the son of the late Homer and Dorothy (Knapp) Woods. As one of three children, George was raised alongside his brother Carl Woods, and his sister Rosemary Woods. On March 27, 1965, he married his beloved wife, Susan E. (Purpero) Woods, who survives.
Also surviving are their daughters, Judy (Keith) Hood, Karen (Tracy) Bower, Kathy (Kevin) Wolfe, Jennifer (Jeff) Miller, and Valerie Woods; their beloved grandchildren, Nicholas (McKenna) Hood, Victoria (Joshua) Wyrwas, Stephen Hood, Ashli (Michael) Miles, Benjamin Bower, Gabriel (Ashlee) Bower, Karlena (Jonathan) Thomas, Kameron (Tayler) Wolfe, Kimberly (Andrew) Schille, Tyler (Madison) Kuhner, Hannah (Jim) Masters, and Treyton Miller; great-grandchildren, Declan, Maeva, Orrin, Karsyn, Emersyn, Adilyn, Brooks, Gracelyn, Cash, Amelia, Lyla Rose, Blakely Layne, and Harvey Jade; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Tristan Miller.
George worked at Chilpaco as a welder for more than 30 years before retirement. He and his wife Susan ran several successful businesses in the Chillicothe area, including a greenhouse. In his free time, he could usually be found at the Chillicothe VA golf course, either playing with his friends or volunteering his time. He had many other hobbies which included a love for thoroughbred racing, mushroom hunting, history, going hunting, and his love for mowing the lawn. But most of all, he loved getting to attend his grandchildren's sporting events.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Zane Trace Local Schools in the Cafetorium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to The Alzheimer's Association or to The Tristan Miller Foundation.
