George Rundels

October 30, 1941 — January 25, 2022

George Franklin Rundels, 80, of Chillicothe, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness.   He was born October 30, 1941, in Chillicothe, to the late George Edward and Rita (Joslyn) Rundels.  On November 4, 1963, he married Mary Sue Prater.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; daughter-in-law Nona Rundels (Milton, FL) and his beloved dog, Shep.   He is survived by sons David Anthony, of Chillicothe; and Jon Edward, of Milton, FL; sister Robyn F. (David) Brown, Columbus, OH; brother David Joslyn Rundels, of Chillicothe; daughter-in-law Dee Dee Rundels; five grandchildren: Joshua, Amanda and Hope Rundels; Stephen Cooley and Jeremy Davidson, of Florida; two great-grandchildren: Carson Glandon and Cayden Rundels; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.   George was a very kind, loving and warm-hearted person.  He loved his family very much.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Peter Church.  He carried the joy of the Lord in his heart and soul.  He also cherished his hometown.  He had many fond memories he loved to tell of Chillicothe.   George served in the US Army for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant.  While in the Army, he served two tours in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Army in 1984, he worked at the Chillicothe VA.  He delighted in taking care of his fellow military members.   He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  The family would like to thank the caring nurses and aides of Westmoreland Place and National Church Residences Hospice.  A special note from his granddaughter Amanda, I'll always remember my grandpa saying, "Arrivederci, it means goodbye in Italian."  This isn't goodbye Grandpa; it's until we see each other again.   Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held at 2:30pm Monday, January 31, in St. Margaret Cemetery, Rev. Jacob Stinnett, Celebrant.
