George Jayne

George Peter Jayne, 86, of Chillicothe, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Adena Regional Medical Center.   He was born May 31, 1936, in Tarrytown, New York, the son of the late Hudson G. and Marie L. (Canavotto) Jayne. On June 12, 1965, he married Cristina Marie (Marsh) Jayne, who survives.    Also surviving are two children: Catherine (Dwane) Hall of Chillicothe, and George Patrick Jayne of Baltimore, Ohio; grandchildren: Conner Hall and Julia Hall; sisters, Nancy Matushoneck of Morristown, New Jersey; Lorena Risch of Bradenton, Florida; Patsy (David) Dey, of Akron, Ohio; and Roberta Cunningham of Ormond Beach, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.  His brothers: John Jayne, Hudson Jayne, and Patrick Jayne preceded him in death.     George worked at the Mead Corporation for more than forty-three years before retiring as a pipefitter in 2000.  He was a member of Mead Local 731 and a member of Scioto Lodge 6, F & AM.   George was an avid reader of history and politics and could always be counted on for a spirited discussion on many issues.  He loved his family dearly and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and walking his dog, Sammy.  He believed strongly that people should help those who could not help themselves and that they should practice kindness. In his memory, please do something kind for someone else.   His funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Chaplain Bruce Hines officiating.  The family will receive friends from Noon until 1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
