George Jackson, 85, of Chillicothe, died 9:35 am, Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at National Church Residences-Chillicothe, following an extended illness. He was born October 22, 1932 in Columbus, OH to the late George and Maude DeBerry Jackson. On March 12, 1966 he married Cecilia Medley Jackson, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George and Robert (Carolyn) Jackson, both of Columbus; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Clennon) Ghoston, Jackie (Spencer) Netter, and Patti (John) Harding; and a brother-in-law, Tony Medley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Jackson Reid; and three sisters, Marjorie, Elizabeth and Almetta. Mr. Jackson was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Department of Transportation, and for the City of Gahanna. He was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, where he served as President of the Trustee Board. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his father and his son. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday at Quinn Chapel AME Church, Rev. Victor Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
