George Ginther

George H. Ginther, 72, of Chillicothe, died at 4:15pm Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, following a brief illness. He was born August 4, 1940, in Chillicothe, to the late Fred C. and Elizabeth Ann (Hirsch) Ginther. On July 17, 1965, he married Mary Elizabeth Bridges, who survives. Also surviving are his son James A. Ginther; daughters and sons-in-law Julie A. (Jeff) Oates, all of Chillicothe; Jennifer "Jeannie" (Alan Curran) Ginther, Louisville, KY; Jessica (Fernando Barragan) Ginther, Alexandria, VA; June "June-Bug" (Seth Roy) Ginther, Vermilion, OH; step-granddaughter Shanny Wood; grandchildren: Alyssa Oates, Colton Ginther, Oliver Roy, Gabriel Barragan, Daniel Roy, Elias Barragan; step-great-grandchildren: Jet and Slater Wood; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard W. (Betty) Ginther and C. Fred (Sharon) Ginther; and a special brother-in-law James R. (Patsy) Bridges, all of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and many aunts and uncles. George was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Catholic Central, Class of 1959. He retired from Chilpaco in 1999 where he worked as a welder. He also worked as a farmer. George supported his community in many ways, having served his country in the US Navy, was a member of the Ross Co. Farm Bureau, the Ohio Cattleman's Assoc., an active member of the Ross Co. Relay for Life Team, a former Huntington Twp. Trustee, one of the original members of the Igniters Street Rod Club, former member of the Knights of Columbus, the Citgo Coffee Club, and an avid Bishop Flaget School supporter and Bingo worker. George was very family oriented and proud of his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday, November 5, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Huntington Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3-7pm at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: Bishop Flaget School Endowment Fund, 570 Parsons Ave., Chillicothe; or the St. Mary St. Vincent de Paul Society, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe.
