George Beverly

Deacon George K. Beverly, Sr., 59, of Chillicothe, died 12:55, Monday, August 27, 2012, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born May 16, 1953 in Ross Co. to the late Sylvester J. and Lolita Juzang Beverly. On September 4, 1971 he married the former Dorothy L. Lee, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Pastor Jeremy, Tiffany, Erica and George Beverly Jr., Virginia (Nicholas) Urita and Nellie (Tairan) Simmons Sr., all of Chillicothe; nine grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Hodgen, of Chillicothe; four brothers, Steven, Sylvester Jr., Charles and Robin Beverly, all of Chillicothe; and a special brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Bonita Duncan. He was preceded in death by a son, James Beverly, his parents, a daughter-in-law Angie, and three grandchildren. George served as a deacon at First Baptist Church for many years, and later attended the Church of Deliverance. He retired from Local 536 Cement Masons Union. He attended Laymen's classes at various churches in Columbus for years. He loved the Lord. He raised seven biological children and many family members' children. He had a special relationship with Demetris Bayless. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at the Church of Deliverance, with his son, Pastor Jeremy Beverly officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Deliverance, 393 N. High St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
