Gentry C. Stepp, 85, of Chillicothe, died 12:05 am, Monday, September 18, 2017 at Westmoreland Place following a lengthy illness.   He was born October 12, 1931 in Lakeville, KY to the late Arthur and Karma Craft Stepp. On July 26, 1952 he married the love of his life, Geraldine Smith, who preceded him in death on November 20, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Scott Stepp; a grandson, Zachary Scott Stepp; and his brothers and their spouses, Clifford and Ruby Stepp, Ernie and Ethel Stepp, Bob and Lotte Stepp, and Harold and Elsie Stepp. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Diana (Dee Dee) and John Skaggs, Ron Stepp, Gloria (Jeannie) Doyle, and Sandra and Sam Gillum, all of Chillicothe; a special daughter, Lynda Tweed, Galion; a sister and her husband, Vernie and Bill Yeary; his grandchildren and spouses, Karri and Mark Witte, Ian Skaggs, Robby Doyle, Erin Doyle, Joey Gillum, Cory Gillum, Samantha and Jonathan Baxter; great-grandchildren, Koah Skaggs, Isabella Witte, Elliott, Reuben, William and Grayson Doyle, Carli McCallister, Asher and Dustin Frost, and Layne and Leah Baxter; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Gentry served his country with two years active duty and six years of reserve duty in the United States Army. He was deployed to Japan for rebuilding following World War II. He retired in 1990 from the Mead Corporation where he served as a tour foreman. He attended New Hope Baptist Church before his illness.   He resided at Westmoreland Place following a debilitating stroke on December 30, 2014. He developed many friendships while there. Special thanks to "his girls" on 2 East and the dietary, laundry, and custodial departments. These people became our adopted family and we love them for their kindness and devotion. Special thanks to Super Sandy Hamlin, who was a kind and loving caregiver and friend, and also to loyal friends whose visits meant so much, especially Gene Bryan, who seldom missed a week. Those Wednesday visits were much appreciated.   Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Thursday at Haller's.
